TLE Design

I’ve have found that some of the hippest and most unique collections come from petite designers. I guess all that frustration with trying to find stylish clothes for smaller frames becomes a rich source of inspiration. Newcomer Teresa Le is one such designer.

TLE Designs, pronounced “T-Lay,” features dresses and tops with a contemporary, colorful vibe. Teresa’s designs are handmade to complement petite frames, and her production is limited, making each piece as unique as the lucky gal who dons it.

In addition to dresses and tops, TLE Designs also features a vibrant array of headbands and fabric belts for the modern fashionista.

Her collection is carried by boutiques in Chattanooga, TN, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Atlanta, and online.

rodeo: part two

May 12th, 2008

Shopping excursions on Rodeo usually include Barney’s. Although its not technically on Rodeo, its a stone’s throw from all of the high end shops. After an impeccable lunch at Barney’s Greengrass I meandered down to the first floor for a bit of browsing. I found the smallest sales girl (5’0” and 00P), introduced her to my blog, and started chatting. And just for you, dear readers, she selected a handful of pieces for you super-petites.

A word to the wise: If you’re up for a romp on Rodeo, I recommend weekdays. The weekend tourist crowd distracts from the genuine experience.

Beverly Hills Chanel

An appointment took me to Beverly Hills this weekend. So in the name of research (of course), I gave myself ample time to stroll the revered Rodeo Drive.

Rodeo Gucci

Known for its haute shopping and couture labels, Rodeo Drive, is one of the most recognized streets in the world.

Rodeo Stuart Weitzman

Us Angelenos are lucky to have local access to such high-end designer shops, including Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, Hugo Boss, Valentino, Prada and oh-so-many more. Truly, Rodeo Drive is a petite shopper’s paradise. A costly paradise, of course, but definitely one worth exploring.

Rodeo Juicy Couture

However short my Rodeo Drive adventure, I always take a moment in Prada… for inspiration.

Rodeo Prada Entry

The interior design and location are part of the experience—think avant-garde art gallery—mannequins visible through floor portholes, staircases sprouting legs, changing room walls that evolve from clear to opaque with a single touch, and a wall-less entry way.

Rodeo Prada Entry

Like I said, inspiration.

Stay tuned for part two Monday!

Women's shoes: Nine West Rossinis - Tribe bark

Running around Beverly Hills this weekend I noticed that every girl had a variation of the gladiator sandal. I think about four out of five girls were sporting a pair.

denim skirts

May 6th, 2008

I’ve been looking for a perfect petite denim skirt since last summer. And to no avail have I found it…

I have two old Earl Jean skirts that have been my trusty fail-safes. I got them as samples at the Earl showroom on Yucca and Ivar 100 years ago. Out of the many things in my closet I could always easily slip into one, add any top or shoes, and be set for the day.

Sadly I’ve worn my skirts out completely. And as hard as it is to say good bye, they need to be retired. I’d like to get something similar that will look great but also go with everything in my closet. Below are two candidates I have my eye on…
